Yongyuan Motorcycle was once an enlightenment brand for many imitators, and it had already become popular throughout China before short videos became popular. With the rapid changes in the young market, Yongyuan Group has also followed suit and launched a high-end brand: Zhuangwei.
Starting from the cruiser, Zhuangwei has launched several trendy and retro mid to high displacement cruisers. Recently, it has also brought a Weiba 400 equipped with a self-developed engine and highly American cruising flavor. This week, the official organized a test drive around the island, allowing us to experience the brand new colors of Zhuangwei.
Zhuang Wei 400 announced a selling price of ¥ 25999 before this test drive event,there is only one version available for sale. The keyless start function will be upgraded in the future.
The Weiba 400 has a very American style cruise car design in its appearance, and the headlights are a bit too aggressive. The actual visual effect is that the overall size of the vehicle gives the impression of being more like an 800cc cruise.
The design on the side of the car is quite impressive, with a distinctive air filter in the full engine center and two sturdy exhaust pipes on the right, visually enhancing the vehicle's dominance.
The whole car adopts LED light sources, and the brightness of the headlights reaches a high standard. The shape of the turn signals on both sides is also very distinctive.
The functions of the Weiba 400 fuel tank position are quite rich, including the instrument panel, one click start, USB charging port, compass, and fuel filler all integrated here.
The instrument adopts a combination of mechanical pointers and LCD screens, which can display information such as speed, gear, remaining fuel, and time on the screen. Due to location reasons, it is necessary to lower your head to check the speed when cycling.
The left and right handlebar buttons have backlight function, with a dual flashing button on the left and an ABS off button on the right.
The fuel tank has a capacity of 18L, which can achieve a range of over 400km for this 400cc engine.
The right side of the engine has an open air filter, which has a larger intake volume and flow rate compared to traditional intake methods. The manufacturer has also conducted sand and water resistance tests.
The entire exhaust section is equipped with an anti scald cover, and a second layer of anti scald protective plate is added to the head section.
The Weiba 400 adopts belt transmission, and the belt supplier comes from the Gates brand.
The front and rear are equipped with disc brakes, with front dual discs paired with opposing four piston calipers and rear single discs paired with one-way dual piston calipers. The specifications of the brake discs have not been announced yet. Standard ABS system.
The front adopts inverted shock absorption, and the back adopts dual shock absorption with adjustable preload, which has a more sporty shock absorption attribute.
Equipped with road tires from Tengsen, front 120/80-16 and rear 150/80-16.
This V-type twin cylinder engine is independently developed by Yongyuan Group, with a displacement of 400cc, a maximum power of 23.5kW, and a maximum torque of 28N · m.
Compared to the handling experience of the new car, I am more concerned about the performance of this engine independently developed by Yongyuan Group. During this cycling trip around the island, we experienced different driving experiences on highways, national roads, and roundabout roads.
Firstly, in high-speed road conditions, the basic displacement of the Weibo 400 determines that overtaking and continuous cycling within the speed range of 80-100km/h will not feel lacking in power. Before 110km/h, it has a full power reserve, and maintaining a speed of 4000-5000rpm for a long time will not feel obvious vibration.
But due to the tuning direction of the engine, its performance in terms of top speed is slightly more Buddha like. When the throttle is turned to the bottom at 110km/h, the acceleration is no longer as strong as before, and the speedometer enters a "slow running" state.
By the way, riding posture is very comfortable for me at a height of 170cm. My legs and upper body remain relaxed, and it would be even better if the manufacturer could introduce a suitable windshield in the future.
In the city of stop and go streets, the advantage of torque in V-cylinder cars can be fully experienced. Just starting from the starting point, I encountered an imported sports streetcar with a 400cc parallel twin cylinder on the street. With a consistent attitude, we had a 0-60km/h sparring and eventually drew. This result is also within my estimated range. If we switch to an acceleration competition of 0-80km/h, we must be following the taillights because the tuning of the Weiba 400 is still more focused on torque.
On the other hand, its power in the street can be cool and cute. When you want to go shopping, you don't need to worry too much about the throttle control when outputting dense and smooth power. The addition of sliding clutch reduces the palm pressure during semi clutch operation in traffic congestion.
If you suddenly want to release your youthfulness on the street, increase the engine speed to 4000rpm and continue to refuel, or suddenly twist the oil all the way, you can feel a strong sense of drag. With the support of the sound of the V-cylinder, it is indeed more exciting than a 300cc cruise car. However, the shifting frequency should also be more frequent. Although there is still a bit of power after 8000rpm, it is not as practical as upshifting. Moreover, the vibration of the foot pedal will continuously affect the comfort with the engine speed, which is also one of the problems that many domestic cruise cars currently face.
In the cycling section around the island, the winding degree of the road is similar to that of the mountain road, but there is no drop between the bends, which also allows me to let go of my hands and feet to release a bit.
However, due to the ground clearance and exhaust position of the cruise car, when attempting to quickly enter a right turn, the exhaust heat shield will come into contact with the ground first. This issue was promptly reported to the manufacturer after the test drive, and will be rectified in the future.
Compared to that, the left turn limit is much higher, which can meet the more intense bending experience and feel its lightness. If the problem with the exhaust hood is completely resolved in the future, its enjoyment in bends will be greatly improved, because not only can you feel the stiffness of the frame, but the damping of the front and rear shock absorbers is also slightly harder. The front and rear support during bending is sufficient, but this will also affect the comfort when encountering rough roads. However, this is only limited to our test drive vehicles this time, and the manufacturer will make better adjustments to the shock absorbers of the mass-produced version to balance their capabilities.
As a new product of Yongyuan's high-end brand, we can feel that the manufacturer has put effort into the walking part of the Weiba 400, striving to win the hearts of users with its connotation, and truly wanting to compete in the market with driving experience and competitors. In terms of appearance, we hope that Zhuangwei will also have its own representative designs in the future, and become a comprehensive independent and trendy brand.
