Can motorcycles really get on the highway?
This is an issue that has been discussed among motorcycle enthusiasts across the country.
Firstly, it can be affirmed that according to the national traffic law, motorcycles are allowed to ride on highways, provided that the rear seat cannot carry people and can only use the rightmost lane but not the emergency lane, and the maximum speed cannot exceed 80km/h. Therefore, if this question is answered according to national laws, driving in the rightmost lane is not considered a violation.
Is this signal light telling us that the legalization of high-speed motorcycle driving will become an inevitable trend in the future?
On November 21st, a man named Yi violated the prohibition sign while driving a regular two wheeled motorcycle on the highway. The police officers of the Shiqian Brigade of the Tongren City Expressway Traffic Police stopped him in a timely manner and safely took him off the highway, effectively eliminating road traffic safety hazards.
The traffic police criticized and educated Yi on his behavior at the scene, informing him that there are many tunnels, bridges, bends, uphill and downhill sections on the highway in Guizhou Province, with high traffic volume and fast speed, and the motorcycle lacks any protective devices. If an accident occurs accidentally, the person's body will be the first to be injured. Although some regions of the country allow motor vehicles with a maximum speed of no less than 70 kilometers per hour to enter highways, due to the special terrain of Guizhou Province, motorcycles are prohibited from passing on highways, and there are obvious signs prohibiting motorcycle traffic at relevant entrances. Attention should be paid to road signs to remind and comply with relevant regulations.
At present, it is indeed not possible to explicitly prohibit motorcycles from driving at high speeds, but various regions can decide whether to allow motorcycles to travel at high speeds based on local road conditions.
In western provinces and cities such as Guizhou, due to geographical limitations such as high plateaus and mountains, highways have narrow curves and numerous bridges and tunnels, which do not meet the conditions for motorcycle traffic. Therefore, motorcycles are not allowed to pass, and prohibition signs prohibiting motorcycle traffic will be set up at the entrances of each highway.
In the plain areas of eastern China, if the highways are straight and wide, meeting the conditions for motorcycle driving, motorcycles can operate normally. However, they should also obtain access cards and pay tolls in accordance with relevant regulations, and strictly follow the regulations for motorcycle driving on highways, such as no speeding, no passengers allowed, equipped with safety equipment such as helmets, and driving on the right.
Whether a motorcycle can take the highway or not depends on the regulations of the local department, so it is necessary to understand whether the area can take the highway. If you are not sure, you can check with the relevant local department to see if it is possible to take the highway. Because motorcycles and cars are different, the protection of motorcycles is too poor, which involves personal safety, so it must be strictly enforced. Therefore, when taking the highway, everyone should carefully understand these to avoid being "kicked off" the highway!
